Draw UV 8 cm long.
a Draw a 4 cm line perpendicular to UV from the midpoint of UV. Label the ends X and Y.
b Draw a line, 4 cm long, from the midpoint of XY and perpendicular to XY. Label the ends W and Z.
C Check by measuring with a ruler_that WZ is parallel to UV.​

Given :  UV 8 cm long.

To Find : Draw a 4 cm line perpendicular to UV from the midpoint of UV. Label the ends X and Y.

Solution:

Step 1  :  Draw a line segment UV = 8 cm

Step 2 : Using suitable compass width taking U as center draw arcs on both sides of UV

Step 3 : Keeping compass width same and taking V as center draw arcs intersecting arcs drawn in previous step at M & N

Step 4 : join M & N intersecting UV at X

Step 5 : using compass width = 4 cm and taking  X as center cut the line drawn in previous step at Y

Similarly  draw perpendicular bisector of XY and draw WZ

WX = ZV = 2 cm

WZ = XV = 4 cm

Hence WZ is parallel to UV.​
