In the wake of the nation celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the Kerala Gandhi Smarak Nidhi and Dr K Sivadasan Pillai Foundation for Educational Research and Development (SPFERD) are organising an international seminar on ‘Revisiting Swami Vivekananda’s vision for focusing on the new educational challenges.’
Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment executive vice-president V N Rajasekharan Pillai will inaugurate the seminar on September 5, Teachers’ Day. The organisers expect to draw paradigms on the educational ideas of Swami Vivekananda.
The three-day seminar will also focus on ‘Ingredients of man-making education’, ‘Reconceiving teacher education in the 21st century’, ‘Youth for national integration’, ‘East-west dialogue and internationalisation’, ‘Integration of Indian educational assumptions with modern technology’, ‘New world order in Vivekananda’s views’ and ‘Humanism, religious harmony and global peace.’
The seminar is being conducted in collaboration with Department of Education, Centre for Adult Continuing Education and Extension, State Resource Centre, International Association of Educators for World Peace (Kerala Chapter), Council for Teacher Education and other institutions.
Sainik Welfare Board director Raju Narayana Swami will deliver the keynote address at the inauguration. Vivekananda World Mission president V Sukumaran Nair, Commonwealth Council for Educational Administration and Management Indian representative Hemalatha Talsera, Council for Teacher Education chairman C P Sreekantan Nair and Gandhi Rural Institute for Development director Jacob Pulickan will be present, among others.
