We have popular participation in elections of India due to the existence of a free and fair Election Commission. The Election Commission (EC) conducts, finalizes and takes decisions for a free and fair election in a democracy. The Election Commission has the equal power as that of the judiciary and has all the rights to take decisions or issues related to elections.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) who is appointed by the President of India makes sure that no foul plays take place in the elections of India. All issues in the polling booth, fights etc. are taken into consideration and he also has the right to withdraw an election.

As the people are ensured that there would not be any bribing and their right to freely elect a representative is not taken away by a biased government, popular participations can be viewed in the elections of India.
