so, here's the question and the answer.

Drill 3cm diameter 6 holes in 6cm×12cm plate what about the area of rest part of plate?


we know that area of circle = 
 \pi  × r²

for 6 circles of diameter = 3cm
the radius would be 3/2 

so, area would be 6 ×  \pi  × 3/2 × 3/2 
                             = 6 x 22/7 x 3/2 x 3/2
                             = 42.4 cm²

now area of the given plate would be = length × breadth
                                                                = 6 × 12   
                                                                = 72 cm²
         

remaining area= area of plate - area of circles
                          =  72 - 42.4 
                          = 29.6 cm²
