Dry hcl does not turn blue litmus to red,where as hydrochloric does?

Litmus is turned red by arhenious acids because of their H+ ions. HCL is an acid because it disoaciates  to give H+ ions but only in aquas solutions. Dry HCL does not give H+ ions that's why the change of litmus paper does not takes place. Hope it helps...❤

dry hcl does not contain h+ ions in them wereas hydrochloric acid dissociate in water to produce h+ ions . that is why dry hcl does not turn blue litmus red
