Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus to red whereas hydrochloric acid does.Why?

because the hydronium or hydrogen frees ions are only present on aqueous solutions

Dis is becz when water is added to dry HCL gas it becomes HCL an acid it realease h+ on adding water hence changing d colour of litmus paper . Whereas HCL as a gas doesn’t release h+ hence doesn’t give litmus test
