Dry hydrogen chloride gas does not turn blue litmus whereas hydrochloric acid does. Why? (b) Equal lengths of magnesium ribbons are taken in test tubes A and B. Hydrochloric acid is added to test tube A, while acetic acid is added to test tube B. The concentrations taken for both the acids are same in which test tube the reaction occur more vigorously and why?

In hydrochloric acid solution, it gets dissociated to H+ and Cl− which makes it highly acidic, because of which litmus is turning red. But the similar thing doesn't happen in case of dry HCl gas [no dissociation].
