sticky. The compound is also formed by chlor -alkali process. Write the

We know that components formed in Chlor-alkali process are chlorine, hydrogen and sodium hydroxide.

Since X is base, it is definitely sodium hydroxide and it's chemical symbol is NaOH.

Chlor-alkali process:

*when electricity is passed through an aqueous solution of sodium chloride, it decomposes to form sodium hydroxide.

*This process is called as Chlor-alkali process because of the products formed( Chlor : chlorine and alkali : sodium hydroxide)

when X is treated with HCl, it forms salt and water. This is Neutralization reaction.

NaOH + HCl ➡️ NaCl + H20
