Explanation:

in unicellular organisms the concentration of water (when outside the water) is low and when the cell is put into water, it seems the concentration of water is more than that of the cell and therefore to equalize the concentration on both sides the cell swells up as it intake water to make the concentration equal between inside the cell and outside the cell

Answer:

Raisins swell because of a process called Osmosis. Osmosis is very Essential for life. Osmosis is the movement of water through a semi-permeable membrane from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration, tending to equalize the concentrations of the water. Osmosis is passive transport, meaning it does not require energy to be applied.

So basically at the start when we put the raisins in the water the concentration of water within raisin is less as compared to the container filled with water. So, due to osmosis, the water from the container moves into the raisin as in osmosis water always moves from high water concentration (water in the container) to lower concentration ( water content in raisin). The water flows until the water concentration in both the raisin and the water container is the same. Osmosis always happens in a semi-permeable membrane.

A semi -permeable membrane is a type of biological membrane that will allow certain molecules or ions to pass through it. Ex: Rasin skin
