Step-by-step explanation:

let the number to be added to  (-7/20) to get (-2/5) be x

then now the equation is been formed⇒ (-7/20)+x = (-2/5)

so now, (-7/20) would get transpose to right side would change the side.

so, x= (-2/5)+(7/20)

take the l.cm as 20, then (-8/20)+(7/20)=x

now, (-1/20)equals to the value of x, that means it must be added to it.
