Given:

Total distance = 40 miles

Time taken to travel 30 miles = 2 hrs

To Find:

Equation of a line that models y,

Solution:

Let the distance travelled be = x

Biker travels distance in 2 hours = 30 miles

Travelling in x hours will be - 30/2 × x

= 15 miles

Now since total miles are 40,

Thus, the distance remaining to cover will be - ( 40 - 15x ) miles.

or y = -15x + 40

Answer: The equation of line is y = -15x + 40
