Answer:

original price = 100₹

Step-by-step explanation:

At a discount of 10% the person bought additional 1kg coffee i.e 10% = 1kg

So total purchase i.e 100% = 10kgs

10kgs she bought for 900₹

So reduced price is 900/10 = 90₹

Original price before 10% discount will be 90+10 = 100₹

Due to 10% decrease in coffee price,was able to buy an additional 1 kg of coffee with the same rupees 900 that he spent each month on buying coffee . what was the reduced price of coffee per kg? what is the original price of coffee per kg?

solution

Let the original price of coffee y per kg

Amount paid for coffee = rs 900

Redution in coffee price = \frac{10}{100}y = 0.1y

New coffee price = y - 0.1y

= 0.9 per kg

Before price redution

900 = y × Original quantity

⇒ Original quantity = 900/y

After price reduction

900 = 0.9y × new quantity

= new quantity = 900/0.9y

new quantity = Original quantity + 1

⇒ 900/0.9y = 900/y + y

⇒ 900/0.9y = 900+y/y = 900/0.9 = 900+y/1

⇒ 900 × 1 = 0.9 × (900 + y)

= 90 = 0.9y

= y = 90/0.9

⇒ y = 100

Hence The original price of coffee was = 100 per kg

The reduced price of coffee i.e

new coffee price (reduced price)

The reduced price of coffee i.e

New coffee price (reduced price)

= y - 0.1y

= 0.9 per kg

= 0.9 × 100

= Rs 90 per kg

The reduced price of coffee was Rs 90 per kg.
