Formula is R/100 + R * 100

                = 25/125 * 100

                = 20%.

Find the new price in percentage:

Price increase = 25%

New Price = 100 + 25 = 125%

Find the change in consumption:

Change in consumption = 25/125 x 100 = 20%

Find the household must decrease it consumption by 20%

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Explain with an Example:

If the price of sugar was Rs 100 for 100 kg

And there is an increase in 25%

Find the new price:

Increase in price = 25% x 100 = Rs 25

New price = 100 + 25 = Rs 125

Find the amount of sugar that can be bought with the same Rs 100:

Rs 125 = 100 kg

Rs 1 = 100 ÷ 125 = 0.8 kg

Rs 100 = 0.8 x 100 = 80 kg

Find the change in consumption:

Before = 100 kg

After = 80 kg

Change = 100 - 80 = 20

Percentage change = 20/100 x 100 = 20%

Answer: There is a need for a decrease of 20% in consumption for the same amount of Rs 100
