The two broad types of energies used in the world are Renewable and Non-renewable energies.

Of these, the most commonly used due to its availability and ease of production is hydro-power. It is estimated that more than 65% of energy used in the world is from hydro-power. This type of power is produced from falling or running water, like dams or from rivers. Power generation from sea waves is also being tried out in different countries these days.

On the other hand, non-renewable energy comes from fossil fuels like coal, oil, gas and nuclear energy.
