Due to over population along the river banks of India, most of our rivers are getting polluted. What should be done to check river pollution?

Smell the water. Taste it thoroughly. Check to see if it's a little cloudy.  Look at the color. Examine your water pipes

Do you get water from wells or pipes?

Honestly, I recomend you hire someone to check. Also, I suggest you buy filters.
