  • It's due to the presence of C – X polar bond in alkyl halide, alkyl halides are comparitively more reactive than the alkane because in this, the halogen atom is electronegative in nature while the carbon atoms bears a positive charge due to the polarization of the alkyl halide.
  • It's only due to the 'polarization' why alkyl halides are more reactive and halogen which serves as a nucleophile during a reaction.
