Due to reduction of 10% in the price of tea leafs, a person would enable to purchase 250gm more in Rs 270. Find the new value & old value of tea leafs.​

Let the original qty be x gms. Cost = 270/x

Price has reduced by 10% which means 10% of 270/x or 27/x

For the reduced price he can get 250 gms more.

Equation formed would be:

270/x - 27/x = 270/x+250

=270 (x+250) -27 (x+250)=270x

=270x +67500 - 27x - 6750 = 270x

27x = 60750

x = 2250 gms.

Original qty is 2250 gms

Qty that could be purchased after reduction in price is 2250+250=2500 gms.

Original cost per kg is equal to 270 x 4/9 which is equal to Rs.120 per kg.

New price per kg = 270 x2/5 = Rs. 108 per kg
