Answer:

Due to the curvature of the Earth the amount of Solar energy received varies from place to place. The Sun rays fall straight on the curved surface of the Earth so places like the North Pole and South Pole located at the two ends of the Earth receive extremely slanting rays of the Sun while parts of North America and other countries which are located around the Equator receive direct rays of the Sun as it is around the centre of the Earth.
