Due to which similar characteristics of honeybee and cockroach are included in same phylum

Honeybee and Cockroach belongs to the same phylum called  Arthropoda. Some of the characteristics that are present in the members of this phylum are :

  • Triploblastic
  • Body divided into three regions – Head, Thorax and Abdomen
  • The body cavity is filled with blood and is called the haemocoel. The blood is white in colour
  • The head is well developed and bears the sensory organs and brain
  • They have compound eyes and mosaic vision
  • Sexes are separate and sexual dimorphism is exhibited

All the above characteristics are present in both of them making it belong to the same phylum.

  • Arthro means Jointed and poda means legs or appendages. The typical characteristic of organisms in this phylum is jointed appendages. Both Honeybee and cockroach have jointed appendages.
  • The body of both Honeybee and cockroach is divided into Head, thorax, and abdomen.
  • The chitinous exoskeleton is present in both.

Due to these similar characteristics, both Honey bee and cockroach are included in the same phylum i.e Arthropoda.
