Duke was a 23 kilo, 4 year old Doberman full of life and vitality. He doted on his master Chuck Hooper and would do anything for him. He was not only protective and caring but also faithful and intelligent. When Duke met chuck after the accident he jumped on him with great excitement. when chuck did not respond, duke immediately sensed that his master was not his usual dynamic self. thereafter he placed himself besides his master's bed around the clock. it was his relentless prodding that got chuck back on his feet. it was his determined effort that made the wheelchair borne chuck to take his first step. he stuck to his job till chuck made a steadily progress towards a normal life. thus duke proved to be not just an extraordinary dog but a friend in need and a guide who stood by his master in his moments of despair
