Two balls have masses of 150 gm and 200 gm and they are along the same line in the same direction with velocities of 4 m/s and 2 m/s respectively. the collide with each other and after the collision the first ball moves with a velocity of 2.5 m/s. calculate the velocity of the ball after collision.

Answer:

we will use the law of conservation of momentum here

m1xv1 + m2xv2 = m1xv3 + m2xv4

(150 x 4)+ (200 x 2) = (150x2.5) + (200 x v4)

600+400 = 375 + (200xv4)

1000 - 375 = 200 x v4

625 /200 = v4

v4 = 3.125 m/s
