Concept

The angle which is formed by the horizontal plane and line of sight is known as angle of elevation.

Given

The length of the shadow given is 30m.

The angle of elevation given is 30 degrees

Find

We need to find the height of the tree

Solution

As we know that the length of the shadow given is the base of the triangle

The height of the tree is the perpendicular of the triangle

Let the height of the tree be h

Now angle of elevation is tan30° = \frac{h}{30}

\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}} = \frac{h}{30}\\

h =\frac{30}{\sqrt{3} }

h = 10\sqrt{3}

Hence the height of the tree is 10√3
