Given :

  • Gavin ate 2 1 / 3 handful of snack mix

  • Aisha ate 2 / 3 handful of snack mix

To find :

  • How much more did Gavin eat ?

According to the question :

Gavin = 2 1 / 3

Aisha = 2 / 3

We are making ' 2 1 / 3 ' - mixed fraction, as Improper fraction,

Gavin = 2 1 / 3

⟹ ( 3 × 2 + 1 ) / 3

7 / 3

∴ Gavin = 7 / 3 & Aisha = 2 / 3

Gavin - Aisha = The more Gavin get

⟹ 7 / 3 - 2 / 3

⟹ 7 - 2 / 3

5 / 3

Gavin will get 5 / 3 handful of snack mix.

So Its Done !!

Answer:

Gavin ate \frac{5}{3} portion more than Aisha.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the portion ate by Gavin is 2 \frac{1}{3}

The portion ate by Aisha =\frac{2}{3}

Converting the given mixed fraction into improper fraction,

2 \frac{1}{3}= \frac{2\times 3+1}{3}=\frac{7}{3}

The difference in the portions consumed by Gavin and Aisha is

\frac{7}{3}-\frac{2}{3}

As they have common denominator,

\frac{7-2}{3}=\frac{5}{3}

Therefore, Gavin ate \frac{5}{3} portion more than Aisha.
