It is true that we should hide under a tree(green trees) while thundering this is so because tree is good conductor of electricity,hence thundering can easily can travel through it and it may lead to your death.

Laying on the ground is a best way to protect ourselves from thunderstorms because our can also body act as conduct of thunderbolts.
