During a training exercise, a submarine travels 16km/h on the surface, but it goes only 10km/h underwater. If the submarine travelled a distance of 160 km in 12.5 h, how long did it stay underwater?

Step-by-step explanation:

Time taken to travel 20 m = 1 min

Time taken to travel 360m = xmin

therefore:120=x360

(cross multiply)

20 x =360

(isolate x by dividing both sides by 20)

x= 360 /20

= 18 mins.
