During an experiment, a signal
from a spaceship reached the
ground station in five minutes.
What was the distance of the
spaceship from the ground
station? The signal travels at the
speed of light, that is, 3 × 10 ^8
m s–1.

we know that Speed =Distance /time

Thus

distance =speed ×time

3 \times 10 {}^{8}  \times 5(60)

since time is given in minutes hence we have to convert it into seconds

 = 15 \times 60 \times  {10}^{8}

900 \times  {10}^{8}

thus distance of spaceship from ground is

9 \times  {10}^{10} m \\ or9 \times 10 {}^{7} km
