During an experiment the students were asked to prepare 10% (m/m) solution of sugar in water. Yug dissolved 10 gm of sugar in 100 gm of water. While Tanvi prepared it

by dissolving 10 gm of sugar in water to make 100 gm of solution.

Explanation:

mass percent=

Total mass of solution

Mass of solute

×100

Solution prepared by Ramesh is:

Mass % = (

10+100

10

)100=

110

10

×100=9.09 %

Solution made by Sarika is:

Mass % =

100

10

×100=10%

The solution prepared by Sarika has a higher mass % than that prepared by Ramesh.
