Trade As the monopoly power of India's export and import rested with Britain, so, more than half of India's trade was restricted to Britain.

During British rule more than half of the Indians foreign trade was restricted to Britain’s and the imports that are otherwise imported to these countries took a swerve and moved to China, Persia (Iran) and Ceylon (Sri Lanka). With the existence of Suez canal the power of British had reinforced on India foreign trade and this has resulted in the movement of goods from India to British and British to India.
