Latent heat means hidden heat in thermometer as this heat is hidden by temperature, the thermometer is not showing any rise to temperature even we are providing heat.

during the change of state from solid to liquid temperature rise is not shown on the thermometer because the heat is used in converting the state of solid to liquid aur we can say the latent heat is is causing no rise in the temperature
