The moisture content in the air gets evaporated and the sun heats up land and fields at different lengths. Lands, which does not have trees gets heated fast than the one with the trees. Once the land gets heated, a “thermal” is formed, it is also known as “rising blob of warm air”. Thermal so formed is warmer than the surrounding air. This is how the day time is warmer than the night.
When “the equator faces the sun directly”, the air gets very warm because the ozone layer, which protects us from the direct heat of the sun, is thin during this time.

Well, the simplest answer is the " transfer of heat " During the daytime , heat in the form of solar radiation heat up or warm the ground surface. This heat result in the warming of air coming in contact of this heated surface or area .This happen through transfer of heat energy . This is why the air becomes warm in the daytime while at night when there is no sunlight radiation the temperature decrease result in the cold air .
