During fertilisation many sperms are released but only one out of the the sperms fuses with the ovum. What happens to the rest of sperms that do not fuse with the ovum during fertilisation?

during copulation 100000000 sperms are ejaculated inside the female vegina.Half of the sperms does not reach till ovum due to lack of metabolism.Female vagina is acidic in nature so half of the sperms die which are not able to survive in that condition.
