eutrophication is a process of depletion of oxygen from water bodies ,it takes place due to introduction of chemicals and nutrients through discharge of industrial effluent and fertiliser .algae and phytoplankton use co2 and inorganic nitrogen and phosphate from water as their food .they serve food for microscopic animals(zooplankton).small fishes feed on zooplankton and large fishes consume these small fishes. when nutrients become abundant due to waste accumulation ,the growth of algae and plankton increases . consequently ,the penetration of oxygen,heat and light is reduced . this cause s death of aquatic animal,draining water of all its oxygen.
