Answer:Well, the temperature remains constant, so I think that means the velocity of the molecules remains the same even though the molecules in the liquid state can move over greater distances.  So it's not going into kinetic energy.  Melting "breaks" the attraction "bonds" between the molecules in the solid state, allowing the molecules to move away from each other.  I suppose this means there is the potential for them to recombine.  So it seems that the heat is going into potential energy.
