During photosynthesis plants make food (starch). Some of it is used by the plants for growth and some is stored in leaves or other parts.

1.Kavaya took two identical potted plants and kept them in a dark room for 48 hours.
2.The morning after, she tested for starch in the leaves and found it to be very low.
3.She then replaced the first plant in bright sunshine and the second one inside a room with a bulb swictched on. in the evening she again tested for starch.

What was she probably trying to find out
A.Can plants use food for growth?
B.Can plants make food in artifical light?
C.Can plants store food on other plant parts?
D.Can plants make food in the absence of air?

Answer:

B. Can plants make food in artificial light?

Explanation:

I chose to select option B because the text talks about the process of photosynthesis. Since Kavya kept the plants in the dark room for 48 hours and tested the amount of starch in both the plants in the morning and then replaced on of them in sunshine and the other in a room with a light bulb, she was probably trying to find out whether plants can make food in artificial light or not.

Hope this helps you! ^-^
