During photosynthesis the glucose formed is first converted to starch and stored in leaves. What is the reason behind this ?

Glucose is soluble , so it is converted to starch so that it can become insoluble and hence it cannot escape from cell , thus it can also be stored

During photosynthesis the glucose formed is first converted to starch in leaves as at night, when photosynthesis stops, the starch in leaves is converted back into the soluble transported through the veins of leaves and phloem tissue to other parts of the plant for use and storage. Plants store food in the form of starch, so the glucose is again converted into starch.
