during rainy season 31 noted that the thundering sound of cloud was heard 6 second after the lightning was seen by him if speed of sound in air is 340 minut per second find the distance of the point where the thundering sound was produced

Let lightning be seen at

t=0 second

then the thunder is heard 6 secs later, i.e , at t=6 seconds

Thunder Sound

Speed = 340 m/s

Time = t=6 secs

Therefore

Distance = Speed × Time

The distance of the point where the thundering sound was produced = 340 × 6

= 2040 m

= 2.04 km
