Vinay-Sthiti-Sthapak in the Rajput period was used in administration for the Chief of the treasury. This was the most important section of the administrative system of the Rajputs. The main function of the Chief of the Treasury was to look after the jagirs, the land revenue and the income and expenditure of the state.
The vinay-sthithi-sthapak was the chief of the finance and economics of the Rajput kingdoms. His title literally means the chieftain of the financial status of the Rajput kingdom.
He was in-charge of maintaining records of the tenants and tax payers and ensuring the timely collection of tax. He was also responsible for taking care of the finances and ensuring that the kingdom treasuries were always well stocked. He was also keeper of the economic accounts of all the people living in the kingdom, similar to a modern-day RBI governor.
