"During sexual reproduction, it’s important that the gametes from both partners are available". After mating, the gamete from the male, called sperm, fuses with the female gamete, called the ovum. "Millions of sperm are produced by a male". But only one sperm manages to fertilize the ovum. The progeny has one set of genes from its mother and another set from its father. "The fusion creates a unique recombinant blend in the offspring. The offspring has to reach sexual maturity before it can reproduce to create further offspring".

The best statement which describes the benefit of sexual reproduction is that the fusion creates a unique recombination blend in the offspring.

Explanation:

  • Due to recombinant a different type of spicies is form. The adaptability of the so formed creature increases.
  • This is because recombinants are resistant to the harsh environmental conditions. The off springs this produced are healthier.
  • A genetic diversity is created between the spicies. Also this paves the path for Newer evolution.
