Hello mate!
By the end of the nineteenth century, Indian exports consisted primarily of raw cotton, jute and silk, oilseeds, wheat, hides and skins, indigo and tea. Thus, the commercial policy of the East India Company after 1813 was guided by the needs of British industry.
Under the colonial rule, India was reduced to a supplier of raw materials like jute, cotton, indigo, wool, sugar etc. and importer of finished consumer goods like silk and woollen clothes and light machinery manufactured in the factories of Britain.
