During the chemical reaction the splinter burns and pop sound produced. Identify the
correct chemical reaction.

(1) CO, + 2NaOH - Na,Co, + H2O

(2) MgO + 2HCl (dil) - MgCl2 + H20

(3) Zn + 2HCl (dil) - ZnCI, + H,

(4) H₂O₂ H₂ + O₂

The chemical reaction responsible for pop sound is -

Zn + 2HCl (dil) - ZnCI₂ + H₂

Explanation:

The burning splinter goes off due to production of Hydrogen gas, during the chemical reaction. Hydrogen is a highly inflammable gas, that uses up all the available oxygen for burning. Thus the reason, splinter goes off.

Pop sound is caused due to expansion of gases due to heat. The hot air expands quickly enough to break the sound barrier, hence producing the sound.
