In super oxide O2- one electron is removed from the antibonding orbital of the molecule where as in peroxide O22- both the electrons are removed.

Electron is removed from antibonding orbital of peroxide ion to convert it into superoxide ion.

- Peroxide is represented by (O2)2- while superoxide is represented by (O2)-.
- One electron from antiboding orbital of peroxide ion is removed to convert it into superoxide ion.
