The peppermoth changing its colour from white to black is an example of the feature adapted for evolution.

Explanation:

Adaptation is the process in which organism become habitual to the surrounding for survival. Such organisms or population leads to evolution via natural selection by passing the trait to its progenies.

The peppered moth are an example of adaptation. The original moth was light coloured. Due to the industrial revolution the factories were set up in England. The moths lived in symbiotic relation with corals. When corals died because of pollution the moths became attack of predators and got reduced but it was noticed that moth now acquired dark colour. The mutation in the melanin caused them to be black they reproduced and survive. The traits are passed on to the next generation.

The dark colour could not be recognized by the predators, hence they survived because of the adaptation they made to evolve.
