Distance to moon is OE is 3.82 × 10^{5} km

Explanation:

Given data

distance away from your eyes OF = 60 cm

size of the moon CD = 0.55 cm

diameter AB = 3500 km

solution

we take here fig so as per fig

here moon to eyes distance is OE

as here ΔOAB and ΔOCD both are similar so that

\frac{AB}{CD} =\frac{OE}{OF}    ........................1

put here value

\frac{3500}{0.55} =\frac{OE}{60}

solve we get

OE = 381818.182

so here distance to moon is OE is 3.82 × 10^{5} km
