hey mate here is ur ans

at anode
OH- and SO4 (2-) reaches
but as per the activity series of ions, OH- is discharged
OH-+1e- ----->OH
4OH---->2H2O+O2
oxygen gas is liberated at anode

hope it helps you
have a great day

The oxidation reaction takes place at the anode during the electrolysis of concentrated H₂SO₄.

  • During the electrolysis process of concentrated H₂SO₄, oxidation reaction will take place at the anode by loss of an electron, and reduction reaction will take place at cathode by a gain of electrons.
  • Oxidation reaction taking place at anode during electrolysis can be shown as below:

     => 2H₂SO₄ → 2H₂S₂O₈ + 2H⁺ + 2e⁻ (electron loss)

      => 2H₂O → O₂ + 4H⁺ + 4e⁻ (electron loss)

  • The product obtained is Perdisulphuric acid and oxygen gas during electrolysis at the anode.
  • From the reaction, we can see that there are 4 electrons liberated at anode and hence oxidation takes place.
  • These liberated electrons are taken up during the reduction reaction cathode.
  • Hence, oxidation takes place at the anode.
