"The process of movement of food from the mouth to the stomach is complex and requires great coordination between different organs and muscles.

This process has the following steps:

1. When a person eats, the food is pushed into the Throat by the Tongue. Simultaneously, the Epiglottis spreads over the windpipe to avoid choking along seamless passing of food into the Esophagus.

2. Once the food is in the Esophagus the Brain initiates peristalsis which refers to the process that allows for the movement of muscle walls, which facilitate the passage of food.

3. At the end of the Esophagus there is a small muscle known as the Lower Esophageal Sphincter, which eases and allows the food to enter into the Stomach.
