During the journey of food from mouth to stomach through oesophagus. How muscular system coordinate in this process?

There are rings of muscles present in the walls of the oesophagus. When food enter the oesophagus, the walls start contracting and relaxing alternately. This pushes the food further down the alimentary canal. This action can be related with the movement of a marble down a rubber pipe
