During the last 5 years the population of a town which was having 12,00,000 people increased by 15 per cent. what is the present population of the town.

Given :

Population 5 years ago = 1200000

Increased rate = 15%

Present population of a town = 1200000 + 15%of 1200000

= 1200000 +( 15× 1200000)/100

= 1200000 + 15×12000

= 1200000 + 180000

Present population of a town= 1380000

Hence, the present population of the town= 1380000

From the data we know data the previous population was 12,00,000
And it increased at the rate of 15%
So the 15% of the population will be=  15*1200000/100
So the 15% of population               = 15*12000 =180000
thus the total present population will be = 1200000+180000
So the present population will be 1380000 which is our answer.
