Zakat (jakath) was a religious tax imposed on the Muslims those who belong to rich category. It was the source of revenue during the Delhi Sultanate.

It comprises of 2 ½ percent of their income. This tax was importance source of revenue for the administration.

There were other such taxes like jizya, Khams, usher, kharja and other such land and religious taxes.
