Answer:

the answer is 1. voltage gated sodium channels

Explanation:

The neural membrane has different types of ion channels on it. These channels are selectively permeable to ions. When neuron is resting i.e. not conducting any action potential then the membrane is more permeable to potassium ions and less permeable or nearly impermeable to sodium ions . Therefore during the resting stage there is high concentration of potassium ions and negatively charged proteins and low concentration of sodium ions in cytoplasm of axon.

In Resting stage there is positive charge on outside and negative charge inside.

  • During the start of action potential voltage gated sodium channels open for few milliseconds and and huge amount of sodium ions rushes inside.
  • This results in reversal of polarity at the membrane. Now on the inner side at the site of depolarisation it acquires positive charge and negative charge on outer side.
  • When repolarisation occurs sodium channels get closed and potassium gated channels open which rushes potassium ions outside and restores the potential and charge on the membrane

hope it helps.
