Answer:
With Durga Puja celebrations only days away, West Bengal's medical fraternity, already working tirelessly for six months, is now worried about massive crowding that may trigger a spike in Covid-19 cases across the state.
Senior cardiac surgeon Kunal Sarkar said, "We are very worried. The situation was, more or less, under control a month ago. Now, testing has slowed down. Bengal and Kerala are the only states with high positivity rates. We are dangerously close to festivity and crowding in and around pandals will lead to an explosive situation."
Kolkata has more than 2,000 pandals, whereas the number for the entire state is around 30,000 during the nine days of Puja.
